Seeds of recovery
We're excited to get started on our new allotment project once Covid restrictions are lifted. We're renting two raised beds on Higham Hill Common Allotment in Walthamstow and hope to spend the spring and summer growing food and flowers together.
We've been given some seed funding from the National Lottery Local Connections Fund to buy tools and other basic equipment and hope to be running growing workshops very soon.
This past year we've all discovered how beneficial nature is for our mental health. We know how much watching things grow and having your hands in the soil can boost wellbeing and this is especially important for the refugees and asylum seekers we work with, many of whom have had difficult journeys to get to the UK, followed by prolonged and harsh experiences of the asylum system.
